The External Battery Case Package for IDWedgeBT™ ID Scanner was created for customers who need 24/7 operation. The package consists of a battery case, two external Li-Ion batteries and an external wall charger. With this power option, customers can run approximately 12 hours on one battery while the 2nd battery is charging.

Q: How involved is the installation process?
A: For somebody who can fix an iPod or iPad, it’s simple. If you’re not somebody who likes to take things apart and put them back together, we suggest sending the IDWedgeBT back so we can do the work properly. One has to remove the bottom cover, remove the existing battery, drill a 1/4″ hole in the bottom cover, thread wires through the cover from the battery case to the circuit board, put the bottom cover back on, mount the battery case, and screw the assembly back together. We have an installation manual which we can provide via email.
Q: How many hours will the external batteries last ?
A: Approximately 12 hours. These external batteries are 1200 mAHr batteries and therefore 50% larger than the original internal battery which is 800 mAHr.
Q: Does the normal external 12V power supply charge the external battery in the external case?
A: Yes – since internal battery is removed and wired to the external case, the original internal charger will now charge the external battery.
Q: How long to charge a battery?
A: It takes about 4 hours to charge the external battery in the included wall charger. This allows for one battery to be used while the other is charging. If charging using the built in charger of the IDWedgeBT, it takes about 6 hours.
Q: When charging using the 12V power supply, can the IDWedgeBT still work?

A: We typically complete work in 1 – 2 days. If fast turn around is required, please place an order and include Fedex 1 day return shipment.
